That’s just another day in the life of Osmin Miranda, better known as Oz, our Resale Operations Manager. When asked about this uncanny ability, Oz simply says, “I’m just that passionate about what I do.” That passion, combined with decades of industry experience, makes him a go-to resource for securing high-quality furniture at unbeatable prices. We sat down with Oz to learn more about his role at CRI-The Shop and the journey that brought him here.
Meet Oz
We kicked off the interview by asking Oz, “What do you do for CRI-The Shop?” With a laugh, he responded, “I get to hoard classic furniture for a living… It’s great.”
In more technical terms, Oz is the mastermind behind sourcing valuable inventory—whether from liquidations, donations, or other avenues—and bringing these preowned furniture pieces into our 62,000-square-foot warehouse in San Leandro. Once there, each item undergoes a rigorous process of cleaning, tagging, and preparation before hitting the shop floor.
Day to day, Oz oversees retail operations and offers personalized showroom experiences tailored to each client’s needs. He works closely with businesses to find thoughtful furniture solutions that align with their space, style, and schedule. Whether it’s discovering the perfect piece from our current inventory or sourcing something unique, Oz brings creativity, product expertise, and a remarkable sense of urgency to every project.
The Most Rewarding Part of the Job
When asked what he finds most fulfilling about his work, Oz didn’t hesitate: sustainability. Every year, over 9 million tons of perfectly good furniture end up in landfills, creating a massive environmental burden. Throughout his 20+ year career, Oz has played a crucial role in combating this waste, diverting millions of pounds of furniture away from landfills. His work not only helps businesses and individuals furnish their spaces affordably but also contributes to a more sustainable future.
Favorite Item Ever Found
With an extensive mental catalog of past sales, choosing a single favorite find was no easy task. After some thought, Oz reflected, “I’ll always have a soft spot for Herman Miller Modern Classics. But the piece that means the most to me is a vintage clock from the CEO’s office of one of the largest projects I ever completed. As a token of appreciation, they took it right off the wall and handed it to me. That clock still sits in my home today, a reminder of the relationships I’ve built throughout my career.”
Outside of Work
Oz isn’t just a top-tier salesperson and Resale Operations Manager—he’s also a devoted father of three, a community leader, and an avid sports fan. In his free time, he coaches high school baseball, offering kids life lessons that extend far beyond the field.
Starting from humble beginnings in El Salvador, Oz learned firsthand the value of perseverance and hard work. Now, he’s committed to giving back and showing the next generation what is possible with a resilient spirit.
